The Significance of Eagles in Native American Culture

This exhibition aims to explore the spiritual and cultural importance of eagles across various Native American tribes. We invite artists to visually narrate the powerful symbolism of eagles, showcasing their connection to themes of freedom, strength, vision, and the sacred.
We welcome submissions from artists of all backgrounds and disciplines, including painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, and mixed media.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Submission is FREE! If you are juried into our exhibit, there is a $30 entry fee to show up to three pieces of work.
If you are 18 or over and live in the St Louis Metro Region, you are welcome to apply to our shows!
We are not accepting AI generated art at this time.
Grafton Art Gallery does not charge a commission on sales for the art in the featured exhibits. Artists will retain 100% of the sale.

General Guidelines

You may submit up to three pieces.
Original work only, no reproductions will be accepted.
Previously displayed artwork at our gallery is not eligible.
Due to the limitations of our space, no video or ceiling suspended work will be accepted.
All entries are subject to selection by Grafton Art Gallery. The gallery has the right to refuse any pieces at ‘Drop Off’ that do not meet the requirements.

Photography

• Original photography and Limited-Edition Digital Art are acceptable.
• Photographic metal prints must have packing material as well as gator foam backing, with hook.
• Artwork must be framed and wired for hanging.
• Sawtooth hangers are acceptable.

Sculptures

• Sculptures must be able to be safely displayed on a pedestal or have a hanging mechanism for the wall.

Paintings & Drawings

• 2D artwork must be framed and wired for hanging.
• Sawtooth hangers are acceptable.
• Unframed ("gallery wrapped") canvases are acceptable as long as they have painted sides.

Image Requirements

• All entries must be submitted through our website entry form.
• Artwork submitted must be a JPEG/JPG image.

Upon Acceptance

• If accepted, artists must submit a $30 fee upon delivery of work for the exhibit. We accept cash or credit cards. Credit cards are subject to a 2.75% processing fee.
• Accepted artists must allow us to use images of your work to promote the show on our social media accounts and website.
• At drop off, please put a tag on the back of the piece(s) that include the artist name, title of the work and an email address or phone number.

The Grafton Art Gallery is proud to present Paws of the Heart, a captivating art exhibit running from February 13 to March 16, 2025. This unique collection celebrates the deep bond between humans and animals, showcasing a variety of works that explore themes of love, companionship, and the beauty of the animal world. From vivid paintings to intricate sculptures, each piece highlights the role animals play in our lives and the profound connections we share with them.

Paws of the Heart brings together local and national artists, each offering their interpretation of the emotional ties between humans and their animal companions. Whether it's a depiction of the unconditional love between a pet and owner or a broader reflection on wildlife's role in nature, this exhibit promises to inspire and touch the hearts of all who attend.
